A Ham artist's papier mache sculpture of Chancellor Alistair Darling is to help front a news show's budget coverage.

Anita Russell said the 21in sculpture of the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be used in Channel 5's news coverage of today's Budget announcement at 5pm and 7pm.

Anita, who works part time as a learning support assistant helping with art and special needs at Twickenham's Orleans Park School, created the model after receiving a commission from a Channel 5 News producer.

The figure was filmed by the company all over London yesterday including at Darling's Downing Street home.

Anita, who took a papier mache sculpture course at Richmond Adult Community College in 2002, said her mini-version of Darling would be used to show how the Chancellor was "eating" taxpayers' cash.
