A BIZARRE burglar broke into a home to steal £3,000 from a giant piggy bank - and then turned the dishwasher on.
The thief let themselves into the Fermoy Road, Greenford, home last Friday and emptied the giant cash box which was full of £2, £1 and 50p coins.
The homeowners were baffled when they returned home to find the money stolen and the dishwasher running.
The 58-year-old man and his 23-year-old daughter were both out of the house between noon and 5pm and had left the house secure.
Police say none of the electrical goods or any other cash was stolen from the home, and they suspect the culprit may know the family to have known the money was there.
There was no signs of a forced entry.
Police are also keen to speak to a woman who was spotted standing at the front by a neighbour at 8.30am. On seeing the neighbour the woman walked away from the home.
Anyone with any information should call ealing borough police on 0208 810 1212. Crime reference: 2509505/07
