Archive footage has revealed Japanese dancers performing in semi-darkness in Battersea Power Station in the early 1980s.
The dancers slowly contort their bodies into different shapes
The footage shows Sankai Juku, an international dance troupe, performing their symbolic and expressionist style of dance in the depths of the old, iconic power-station.
They use the guttering of the building for their performance
Four men, painted in white from head to toe, are seen performing around the eery derelict power station, in 1982, which is still full of machinery and remnants of its past.
By the end of the video the men are seen lying on pieces of coal imprinting black marks on their bodies.
The Grade II listed building is currently undergoing a redevelopment, estimated to cost £8bn, to convert it into luxury homes.
