A group of friends went on a wacky race for charity last weekend in their two tower challenge.

Organised by Simon Chapman, from Shirley, the 33-year-old and a group of friends travelled from Crystal Palace tower to Blackpool tower for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The fundraiser was set up in memory of one of Mr Chapman’s fellow Scout leaders who died of cancer three years ago.

The group took ten second hand cars and dressed up in all sorts of crazy costumes. One car went as a smurf house fully fitted with oven and smoking chimney.

More than £1,100 has been raised already, but Mr Chapman said more money will come in from selling the cars and from a gig they are doing on February 23.

Mr Chapman said: “We certainly drew a lot of attention to ourselves but it was a fantastic weekend and something we will remember for a long time.”
