A  charity day that sees Kingstonians using a golf club to whack pieces of bread toward a boat in the middle of the Thames returns this weekend.

The third British Bread Golf Open raising money for Creative Youth will take place outside Woody’s bar this Sunday, November 18, starting at 1pm.

Last year’s event, won by Stuart Daniels, attracted nearly 100 competitors, featuring councillors Bob Steed and 2010 champion Barry O’Mahony, and raising more than £700 for good causes.

Organiser Robin Hutchinson, the man behind Homage Fromage and Surbiton Ski Sunday, said: “Is there a better way to end a year of fantastic sporting achievement than the British Bread Golf Open 2012?

“Now in its third year this event is already ranked up with the FA Cup, the Grand National and cheese rolling."
