Your guide to travel in London this Christmas

Christmas time traditionally means mistletoe and wine but also disruptions to public transport services.

Take a look at how to get around London with our festive travel guide.

Christmas Eve

• A Saturday service will operate on the Tube and London Buses network with some exceptions.

• The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will start at 5.30am but the last trains will be at Sunday timetable times at 11.30pm.

• A weekday service will operate on the overground trains with last trains leaving at around 9pm.

• On Tramlink there will be a Saturday service and there will also be a limited number of riverboat and Dial-a-Ride services.

• A reduced UK service will be running from Victoria Coach Station with the last international departures leaving mid-morning.

Christmas Day

• No services on the Tube, buses, DLR, trains and Tramlink and no services from Victoria Coach Station.

• The Christmas Day Lunch Cruise service is the only riverboat that will be running.

• There will be a limited number of Dial-a-Ride services.

New Year’s Eve

• The Tube, DLR, buses, trains in London and trams will be free from 11.45pm to 4.30am on New Year’s Day. Some trains out of the capital will also be free after midnight.

• DLR, the Tube and some national train services will run all night.

• Night and 24 hour bus routes will run as normal and 53 bus routes will operate a 24 hour service.

• Bus routes serving central London will be affected by diversions between around 7pm and 3am due to road closures.

• There will be fewer Dial-a-Ride services than normal.

• A reduced number of UK coaches will be departing from Victoria Coach Station, where the ticket office will be open from 10am to 4pm.

• The congestion charge will be suspended from Christmas Day until New Year’s Day.
