'Better off walking to London': Passengers stuck on c2c Fenchurch Street trains from Essex after power supply problem, Chiltern trains to and from Marylebone also delayed

The disruption affecting trains into the capital from Essex meant no services were able to run between Tilbury Town/Upminster and Fenchurch Street.

Some trains came to a standstill, with problems for passengers compounded later by a trespasser on the tracks.

Passenger Sarah Calkin tweeted: "O my God. I'd be better off walking to London."

Eventually, a limited amount of power was restored and the stationary trains were able to start moving.

The problem affected passengers with the c2c train company.

Some travellers switched to using Abellio Greater Anglia trains which also became packed.

Four weeks ago a similar power supply problem near Clapham Junction resulted in some commuters being stuck on trains for several hours.

Elsewhere this morning, there were delays of up to an hour on Chiltern trains in and out of Marylebone after a signalling problem.

I love c2c delays, what should of been an hour journey has turned into 2 hours and a half of standing up on every train I've been on today.

Blimey. Perfect storm of problems for C2C today. No track power, people track walking, busses delayed due to A13 being at a standstill.
