A MAN has died after becoming trapped in a ten-pin bowling lane machine in east London.

The 31-year-old employee of Hollywood Bowl, in Barking, died on Thursday evening.

Police said the death was "unexplained" and environmental health officers were investigating the accident.

The man died at the scene. No one has been arrested.

Police said they would watch CCTV footage filmed inside the bowling alley.

"At about 7.30pm officers from Barking and Dagenham police were called by London Fire Brigade to the Hollywood Bowl, Jenkins Lane, Barking to reports of a man stuck under the ten-pin mechanism," a police spokesman said.

"On arrival a man from East Ham, believed to be 31-years, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, an employee at the venue, has been formally identified and next of kin are aware.

"The incident is being investigation by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command. They are liaising with the Local Authority's Environmental Health unit to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unexplained death."

Detectives called for anyone who was at Hollywood Bowl after 4pm Thursday to call police.

Officers are also eager to speak with four male youths who were seen bowling at the alley.
