A JILTED lover who brutally stabbed a mother-of-four in front of stunned onlookers has admitted murder.

Joshua Willis, aged 44, knifed his former partner Tracey McCormick more than 30 times after a row in Downham Way, Downham.

The Old Bailey was told Ms McCormick drove to meet her former lover, who demanded she hand over £20 she had borrowed to buy medicine for her son.

Willis, of Ravenscar Road, Downham, then dragged her from her car and repeatedly stabbed her with two seven-inch kitchen knives in front of horrified onlookers.

He escaped on a bus in his blood-stained clothing before later calling the police to confess to the killing.

Ms McCormick, of Railway Street, Northfleet, died at the scene after the attack, at around 1.30pm on September 13 last year.

The 36-year-old, who also had a house in Linton Close, Welling, suffered more than 60 injuries to her body, including more than 30 individual stab wounds.

Willis, who has served two prison sentences for past attacks on former partners, pleaded guilty to murder on Monday.

He will be sentenced on June 30 after psychiatric reports have been prepared.
