A grandmother in her 80s is hoping This Is Local London readers can help her find a companion to share her life with.

Flo Tucker says she has had enough of shouting "eh" in the ears of the men around her and is putting her trust in the general public.

Mrs Tucker, of Elmwood Care Home, Southborough Road, Bickley, says she wants a tall, dark man to sweep her off her feet.

The 82-year-old, whose favourite tipple is Tia Maria and diet cola, said: "I want someone who likes a drink, preferably lager, but I don't just want any Tom, Dick or Harry you find in the pub."

She says although a man ought to have a sense of fun and a sense of humour, he should still be hardworking and kind-hearted.

The grandmother-of-five was born in the Old Kent Road, Southwark, and worked in The Harrow bar in Fleet Street, London, until she was 51.

She married her husband Joe Tucker in 1941, when she was 18 and he was 20, and they were together for 42 years.

She loves the ballroom dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing and her favourite dance is the lively, energetic quickstep.

The mother-of-two says although she cannot dance it anymore, she would like a companion to watch the dances with.

She likes watching soaps and is especially fond of "finding faults with them".

Her biggest bugbear is when the characters "throw off half their clothes".

She also wants someone who will whisk her away on holiday to her caravan in Hastings.

Mrs Tucker was too modest to describe her own qualities but the chief executive of Mission Care, the charity which runs Elmwood Care Homes, says she would make a top partner.

Colin Bloom, who has known her for three years, said: "She has the ability to make everybody laugh and she is one of the biggest characters we have in Mission Care."
