A teenager was repeatedly stabbed during a huge gang fight on a double-decker bus in east London.

About ten Asian youths boarded the bus and attacked a similar-sized gang of black school children on the top deck last Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Three black youths were injured. One 16-year-old is still in a stable condition in hospital.

The Asians entered the number 104 bus through its exit doors at a stop in Green Street, Forest Gate, and set upon their rivals at around 4.15pm.

Except for two wounded teens, all of the youths have fled by the time police arrived.

Although the third injured teenager left the bus without treatment, detectives have traced him.

"The bus was carrying many passengers at the time, and we have spoken to a number of them," said Detective Constable James Francis.

He appealed for information from those who have not yet contacted police.

"We also need to trace anyone who may have seen the youths making off."
