A man threatened to kill all Muslims during a drunken outburst in a busy High Wycombe restaurant after watching the Union Flag being burnt on television.

Clive Turner, 57, of Old Dashwood Hill, Studley Green, Stokenchurch, was given a 100 hour community punishment order at Wycombe Magistrates Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to racially aggravated threatening behaviour.

Magistrates chairman Dilys Woodmore said: This was an unpleasant situation with racist overtones.

Unemployed Turner had been drinking on March 18 this year after seeing the television images of the Union Flag being burnt outside parliament. He went into McDonalds in High Street, High Wycombe, at 6.15pm and began an argument with a group of Asian men.

The court heard how Turner threatened to kill all the Muslims and those who follow Islam.

Two police officers attended the restaurant and the court heard how Turner pushed one of them before being arrested and then threatened to kill them on the way to the police station.

Tiff Whillis, mitigating, said: This is not a clique skinhead joining some political party with a focus in life that was hate. Mr Turner is very different from that.

This was very much drunken ramblings from a man who has never had any previous difficulties with any racial group in High Wycombe.

Mr Whillis added that Turner was keen to talk to the people he had offended and say sorry.

Mrs Woodmore added that the magistrates had taken into consideration Turners remorse over the incident and his willingness to address an alcohol problem.
