Five men have been arrested after a million-pound robbery at London's Heathrow airport, in which shots were fired at a warehouse employee.

Six men got away with £1.75million in cash from the Menzie's World cargo shed in a controlled area of the airport at 11.10pm on Friday evening.

According to Scotland Yard 15 members of staff at the shed were tied up with plastic handcuffs, and some hit with the butts of pistols.

One of the victims tried to escape the robbers. Shots were fired after him as he tried to run from the building, and he was recaptured.

The robbers left and stole a van at gun-point, a white Vauxhall Vivaro, registration KF53 CXX. They also stole a gold Ford Focus car, X840 HHR, which had been parked outside the premises.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said five men in total had been arrested in London and the Home Counties during the course of Saturday. They are all in custody at a West London Police Station.

Det Supt Mick Allen of the Flying Squad said "We are actively searching for a further three suspects that are outstanding. I am appealing for anyone who knows their identity or whereabouts to contact the Flying Squad.

"These men were willing to use firearms during the robbery and could still be armed and extremely dangerous. Do not approach them but contact police on 020 7230 2061."
