Paula Radcliffe, the star of UK athletics, will begin her comeback from injury by competing in two events in London this month.
Radcliffe, the world record holder for the Marathon, pulled out of the World Championships in Paris last month with bronchitis, and a leg injury.
She will now resume her running career by entering the Nike 10km run in Richmond this Sunday, and then the Flora 5km in Hyde Park the following weekend.
Writing in The Telegraph, Radcliffe said she was looking forward to both runs.
“The two races in London have a great atmosphere and are all about people getting out and having fun,” she said.
Injuries have prevented Radcliffe continuing her sparkling form from earlier this year, which had seen her unbeaten on track on road for more than a year.
Along with the Marathon record she set in London earlier this year, Radcliffe is also the Commonwealth gold medallist in the 3000 metres and 5000 metres races.
