HARROW: Hopes to return evacuees home

Some of the last remaining evacuees of a South Harrow explosion could be back home by the end of the week.

More residents are today returning to Stanley Road, where a blast destroyed three houses last week.

At a meeting last night, Councillor David Ashton, leader of Harrow Council, said he hoped all the people who were evacuated be given access to their homes soon.

He said the residents of three properties next to the ones destroyed in the explosion, will not be able to return to their homes as quickly as those living further away.

Stanley Road could be reopened by the end of the week, but some residents have expressed concerns about the security of properties which have lost doors and windows.
