A Walthamstow police officer who had sex with a prostitute while investigating a brothel has been forced to resign.
Manjit Johal, a former sergeant, was found guilty of misconduct at an Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) hearing.
The 43-year-old was accused of sexual activity with a prostitute while visiting a property in Walthamstow in December 2005 to investigate whether it was being used for prostitution.
He was initially arrested on suspicion of rape, but the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to pursue the case against him.
