A man has been charged with a series of armed robbery and firearm offences, including a raid at a bookmakers in Watford, after a major operation between Hertfordshire Constabulary and the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad.
Nicholas Smith, 58, of Tempsford Avenue, Borehamwood, was charged with five counts of possession of a firearm and five counts of armed robbery in Hertfordshire.
Bookmakers in Watford, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead and Potters Bar were targeted between 2005 and 2008.
Smith has also been charged with 34 counts of armed robbery and firearm offences which are alleged to have occurred across the South East of England.
He has been remanded to appear at Harrow Crown Court on Wednesday, May 28.
