Tube workers have voted in favour of a three-day strike in protest at safety on the Underground.
The walk-out is scheduled to start at 6.30pm on April 6, unions have announced.
The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union and Transport Salaried Staffs Association claim standards will be compromised if plans go ahead to close 40 ticket offices and cut opening hours.
Transport for London (TfL) insist the measures do not relate to safety and dismissed the need for industrial action.
Travellers are set for 72 hours of misery if a deal cannot be reached.
Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT, said: "Tube workers will not stand idly by while the security of the network is compromised by managers who clearly believe that staff and passenger safety can be looked after on the cheap."

A TfL spokesman said the issue raised by the RMT are being addressed through negotiation.
Talks were continuing on Friday and more are planned for next week.

Have you noticed? ...They never strike for more money or to secure jobs for the boys these days. No, it's all about "safety".
Yeah, right. If that's the case, why doesn't the union tell their members to stop driving through red lights?
Hurry up with fully-automated trains like they have on the DLR!

Great to see a strong union standing up for ordinary workers' rights.
However, I am a little surprised there aren't more c~~nts like adrian, barleybob and Croyboy posting rubbish on here.
Croyboy, couldn't you find a racial angle to this story?

Croyboy, couldn't you find a racial angle to this story?[/quote] Why should I "find a racial angle"? Indeed, how often - in terms of a percentage of my posts - do I ever mention the subject?
As for "posting rubbish", I take it that means "I don't agree with adrian, barleybob and Croyboy".
Tell me, H, how long ago was it that you left junior school?
(I only ask in order to find some excuse for childish comments.)
