BARNET: Seven-year-old injured in hit-and-run crash
Air response: the London Air Ambulance was called to the scene
Air response: the London Air Ambulance was called to the scene

A boy is in a serious condition after a collision involving a hit-and-run driver in Edgware last night.

The seven-year-old was hit by what is thought to be a silver Ford Escort just before 6pm in Green Lane, outside Garrick Court.

The driver of the car failed to stop after the incident, and made off towards the A41.

The London Ambulance Service sent the air ambulance and ground crews to the scene, where they found the boy suffering from injuries to his back, head and legs.

He was flown to the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel.

A spokeswoman for the LAS said the victim was in a serious but stable condition.

The road was closed from 6pm to 11pm whilst investigation teams assessed the area.

Police are looking at CCTV footage from Barnet and Hertfordshire to help trace the driver.

Traffic officers are investigating, and anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any information, is asked to call Alperton Traffic Garage on 020 8998 5319.
