The man who sparked a massive security alert at Heathrow Airport by running in front of a plane has appeared in court.

Ketheeswaran Uthayakumar, 27, allegedly climbed the perimeter fence to the airport and was arrested by police, who suspected he had a bomb in the rucksack he was carrying.

His actions on Thursday, March 13 came a day before the Queen was due to officially open Terminal 5.

Uthayakumar, of no fixed address was charged with endangering aircraft after breaching security and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He was remanded in custody to appear back at the court for trial on April 22.
