A Tottenham man threatened a terrified woman with a meat cleaver and raped her in her own home after forcing her to watch a porn film, a court has heard.

Colin Carnegie, 53, of Edgecot Grove, insisted on showing the victim kinky movie The Black Glove before asking her for sex, the Old Bailey heard on Monday.

But when the woman refused, Carnegie grabbed a knife from the kitchen of her Tottenham home, threatened to kill her and dragged her into the bedroom on July 2 last year.

As his victim cried and begged him to stop, Carnegie told her he would "slap her up" if she did not keep quiet, jurors heard.

Prosecutor David Ryan told the court the attack took place after Carnegie was invited in to the woman's Tottenham home.

He saw her while she was out running errands and popped round once she finished.

Mr Ryan said: "It appears he wanted to show her a DVD called the Black Glove, which had something to do with relationships between black men and women.

"During the course of this he asked if she wanted to have sexual intercourse with him.

"She refused, and at this stage the prosecution says the force element and certain degree of threat rears its head.

"He took hold of a meat cleaver from somewhere in the kitchen and pulled her in to the bedroom, threatening to kill her if she didn't have sex with him.

"It appears with the meat cleaver in his hand and in the circumstances, finding it somewhat difficult, she removed her trousers and underwear."

Carnegie then raped her as she sobbed and pleaded with him to stop, it is claimed.

Mr Ryan added: "It did not take very long, she put a time on it of about five seconds - the defendant making reference to the fact that he had not been with a woman for nine months and that is why it happened so quickly."

Once it was over, the victim dressed and persuaded Carnegie to come to a friend's house with her.

There, in an "extremely distressed state", she called the police who arrived and arrested him.

When questioned at Holloway police station, Carnegie refused to answer questions.

But in a prepared statement he said: "I Colin Carnegie wish to say as follows. On July 2 I had sexual intercourse with a woman.

"She initiated sex and she consented to sex. I made no threats whatsoever with any weapon and I made no threats of any kind."

Carnegie denies rape.

The trial continues.
