The inquest in to the shooting death of Tulse Hill resident Jean Charles de Menezes could last up to three months, his family say.

Mr de Menezes was shot dead by Met Police anti-terror officers who mistook him for a potential bomber on May 22, 2005.

His family hope the inquest will throw further light on the Brazilian electrician's death.

A pre-inquest review at Southwark Coroner's Court next month will decide the location and duration of the inquiry.

Mr de Menezes' cousin Alex Perriera said the family would continue its fight for answers about the shooting.

Mr Perriera said the police officers involved continued on the force while his family was left to deal with their loss.

Mr de Menezes' inquest was postponed in 2006 with the Southwark coroner agreeing to suspend the hearing until legal proceedings against Scotland Yard were finished.

In November, the Met was found guilty of health and safety breaches over the shooting and fined more than £150,000.
