A BUS driver is due to appear in court today, accused of causing the death of an MP's mother-in-law.
Ismail Ahmed, 42, from Southall, appeared at Richmond Magistrates Court, in October, charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing the death of Elizabeth Panton, and two counts of grievous bodily harm, relating to injuries suffered by Sarah and a toddler.
Mrs Panton, the mother-in-law of Norfolk MP Richard Bacon, was with her daughter, Sarah Hope and the toddler at a bus stand in North Worple Way, on April 25, when the incident happened.
The crash killed the 65-year-old and left her granddaughter with serious leg injuries.
The toddler, then aged two, had to have her one of her legs amputated below the knee because of the injuries she sustained.
The three had been heading home after visiting Sarah's twin sister, Victoria Bacon, wife of Richard, after she gave birth to the couple's first baby.
Mr Ahmed, of Emerald Square, is due to appear at Kingston Crown Court later.
