Plans to air condition the Tube look set to be scrapped as transport bosses hunt for ways to save money following the collapse and takeover of maintenance company Metronet.
The £150million plan to cool the Tube is under threat as well as expected upgrades at stations after Transport for London moved to takeover the maintenance company responsible for the District Line among others.
Improvements under threat are reported to include lift and ramp upgrades that would have made the Tube more accessible to the disabled.
A TfL spokesman said the 'cooling the Tube' programme was under review.
