A teen responsible for more than 100 graffiti attacks has been caught after etching his tag into a police car.

The 16-year-old from Thames Ditton was caught after he tagged the police car while officers were attending an incident in Molesworth Road, Elmbridge, on October 31.

Neighbourhood PC Lee Fabry door knocked homes in the area and recorded more than 100 incidents of vandalism where the teen's tag had been written on walls and signs since February.

After PC Fabry presented evidence of the damage suffered by 36 different people to the teen, the 16-year-old admitted the vandalism and received a formal caution.

"The offender's actions were serious and he needed to understand that graffiti, as well as being a crime, can lead to people feeling that their community is not safe," PC Fabry said.

"I am determined not to be complacent, so if anyone has any information about further incidents of graffiti or who might be responsible, we would urge them to get in touch straightaway.

"The entire community, including parents, need to play their part in helping us to identify these youths."
