Firecrews from Gravesend fire station are still scratching their heads after a mysterious incident this morning.

The station received a call at 1.30am from a distraught young woman claiming her parents were locked in a toilet at the Fleet Sport and Social Club, in Newman's Road, Gravesend.

The woman told crews the club had been locked up for the night and her parents, both in their 70s, had been stranded.

A team was sent to the club and the window to the toilet was located.

A crew member who attended, said: "We then spent an hour counselling what turned out to be an empty toilet."

The plot thickened when a friend of the couple's daughter decided to check their home, where she found the couple being dropped off by ambulance attendants.

The crew member added: "It was a bit weird to say the least, the can't have been in the toilet in the first place as the club was all locked up when we got there.

"Their daughter didn't really know what to say, she had been very distressed and was relieved when they were found."
