Firefighters found themselves fanning the flames of love after they tackled burning cotton wool spelling "I love U" on a road.
The message was spelt out in cotton wool measuring a foot wide and stretched 12ft along Stowage in Deptford, south-east London.
It was weighed down and set alight using petrol, say Deptford firefighters.
A small crowd had gathered at the scene on May 9 to see what the message said.
Firefighters who doused the flames found a petrol can at the scene, after the fire broke out at around 11pm.
Nobody was injured in the blaze.
The fire left burn marks on the road.
