An illegal motorcycle track has become so popular, a burger van has set up shop there, police in south-west London say.

Police have promised a crackdown on motorcyclists tearing around The Pitts in Feltham, vowing to seize any motorbikes being used in the area.

Inspector Dave Henfrey said police would enforce a zero-tolerance campaign against antisocial bikers who have been terrorising residents and park users with their noisy and dangerous activities.

Officers will be out in force patrolling the area and anyone caught with a motorcycle will have it confiscated immediately without warning.

"In the past, we have been warning motorcyclists," Insp Henfrey said.

"This has not worked and The Pitts' popularity is growing so we are getting tough and using our powers of confiscation.

"Any motorcyclist caught will have to pay £105 to get it back.

"The longer they leave it, the higher the fine.

"If they do not reclaim it, it will be destroyed.

"We hope this initiative will reassure residents that we do take this problem seriously and are committed to reducing this behaviour."

Hounslow councillor Phil Andrews said: "We support and endorse the stance of Feltham police on stamping out this antisocial behaviour, which is causing misery for local residents and users of the park."

The Pitts is a large piece of land bound by Padstow Walk, the Bedfont Green housing estate and Dudley Road.

The area has become so popular it now draws motorcyclists from across west London.

Recently a burger van set up shop close to the site demonstrating its growth in popularity.
