THE tide waits for no man - and that certainly proved the case for one unfortunate chap who found himself stranded on top of his car in Richmond.
Bruce Tabone, who was photographed shoeless and dialling for help on his mobile phone, was snapped by reader Tim Orr.
The 28-year-old bar worker was caught out on Wednesday near the White Cross pub, Water Lane, which bears a warning sign about the changing tide. He was forced to call for a breakdown truck to pick up his washed out Fiat Punto and had to be hauled to dry land by firefighters.
However one eyewitness pointed out the water was only around 2ft deep and said: "He could have walked."
The area is notorious for quick changes in the tidal levels often leaving drinkers with a long wait for the river to recede.
