It has a single windowless bedroom, but developers are still hoping someone will pay £210,000 for a KingstoniPad, just 100 metres from Kingston station.

Kingston's newest flats have gone on sale, with a free scooter for the first person who moves in.

The development in Richmond Road offers one- or two-bedroom apartments for a whopping £210,000 to £295,000.

The cheapest example of modern urban living is a one-bedroom flat with a total area of 385 sp ft sq, including a 9ft x 9ft bedroom, with no windows, and a 13ft x 13ft reception room which includes the kitchen. There is a shower and toilet.

Managing director of developer FiL, Mark Lawson said: "The increase in demand for town centre living over the past decade has put a lot of pressure on our town centres, particularly the problem of increased road congestion and pollution from cars.

"KingstoniPad aims to address this by maximising the use of space, minimising environmental impact and encouraging a less car dependent lifestyle."

The development has attracted a lot of interest from buy-to-let investors, attracted by the high-quality build and excellent location. The apartments have lift access, video entry phone and an environmentally-friendly finish, including bamboo floors.

The most expensive flat, retailing at £295,000, has two bedrooms and an internal area of 642 sq ft. Thankfully, both bedrooms have windows, as does the reception room-come-kitchen.
