THE badly decomposed body of a man was discovered on a building site earlier this week.
Police were called out to a site in Church Road, Leyton, on Monday at 9am, after receiving reports that a body had been found. On arriving, site officers discovered the remains of a man "about 30 years of age".
Det Insp Derek Vickers of Chingford CID said: "An unidentified body has been found at a semi-derelict building in Church Road, Leyton, where restoration work has been taking place.
"At this time, there are no suspicious circumstances and a post mortem will be conducted towards the end of the week."
However, a police spokeswoman later said police believe they know who the dead man is and are making inquiries with the next of kin while they await formal identification to take place.
