Lightning halts tube service

Commuters on the Metropolitan line were among those affected by the heavy rain, thunder and lightning today (Tuesday).

One passenger, Sarah Mills, telephoned The Watford Observer at 5pm to say her train was stuck at Watford Met after the station was apparently hit by lightning.

Passengers were told not to touch anything metal.

They were informed the CCTV had gone down and there was signal failure, leaving the train at stop for the time being.

Miss Mills said: "It's the first time I've been told to put my feet on the seats."
