For actress Kim Cattrall, it's from Sex and New York City to sex in London's city.

The Sex and the City star will soon make her British theatre debut as a sculptor who is paralysed in a car crash in the play "Whose Life is it Anyway"?

Cattrall recently disposed of her stilettos as man-hunter Samantha Jones in the immensely popular American sitcom. She also withdrew from plans to turn the series into a movie, after which producers sunk the project.

The Liverpool-born actress will arrive in December to prepare for her role as the "sexy, intelligent and talented" sculptor Claire Harrison, theatre spokesperson Janine Shalom said. A serious road accident forces the character to think about a life of dependence on others.

Brian Clark's classic play examines whether we have the right to choose how to live and die.

Sir Peter Hall directs the updated version that will open at the Duke of York's Theatre on January 25 next year.
