Where will the Tube strike leave you?

Commuters have been warned of serious disruption to public transport in London tomorrow and on Wednesday, with strike action likely to stop services across the entire Tube network.

The RMT union and London Underground are locked in last-ditch talks this morning aimed at averting the dispute, which centres around negotiations for new pay and working conditions.

However, RMT general secretary Bob Crow remained pessimistic about the chances of resolving the dispute, saying he had "no confidence" in London Underground management.

Transport for London says people using public transport in London should add extra time to their journeys during the strike period, and even avoid travelling during rush hours if possible.

Few, if any, Tube services are expected to run from Tuesday evening until Thursday morning.

Overland trains should run as normal, after a planned national strike due to run at the same time as the Tube strike was called off.

TfL is putting on extra buses to cope with an expected surge in demand for central London.

"Due to the strike, services are likely to be much busier than normal and we would ask that passengers please be patient and allow more time for their journeys," said TfL.

Docklands Light Rail services will run as normal and London Underground has also set up a free river boat service, running between Tower, Blackfriars, Waterloo, and Westminster Piers, every 15 minutes during the morning and evening peak.

I'm searching for news of the CURRENT proposed strike and came up with this page which , unhelpfully has no indication of the date. On closer inspection, it looks liek it's from 2004!
Please date this sort of NEWS page, to avoid confuasion.

Can you take this page down? A 3 year old page on 'where strike action leaves you' is naff all use to anyone, and I'm looking for information on the current strike, scheduled from 3/9/2007. it's ridiculous this is your top page today - it makes you look amateur.

Ironic that we are headed for ANOTHER strike.

This page shows precisely the problems in this country, nobody cares.

I can only agree with the above contributors. Is the tube strike on? As a matter of detail, Tuesday is the 4th September. So is everything OK on the 3rd? I NEED TO KNOW TO-DAY 2nd September !! Is anyone there?

This is absolutely disgusting; I pay over £150 per month for the tube and what 'unequivocal guarantees' do I get for the 'normal service' getting me to work on time? You don't get unequivocal guarantees in life - so deal with it or move on. Sickening

It's fine to walk if people only have a short distance to travel - for those who have to cross the city, it's a little less simple.

This calls for a underground users strike in the future. It's in our hands to stop using **** services so they have no choice but to improve them in order to survive.
We won't do that cause we're all vry stupid an part of the machinery that has us trapped while we make millions for the big fishes that don't care about us

yes. I've been suggesting a user strike 4 a while now. but everyone seems 2 scared to risk losing their jobs/having to use bus or walk if they go on a strike! :)

It is true, on the other hand if everysingle person did it, it would be less of a problem. Perhaps at the weekend when most people are off work. If people didn't use the tube to go to oxford st only, in fact didn't even go there to spend bucks it would start pressure to do something about the sad quality of transport services etc... we do pay taxes and to be honest, education transport and health are under minimums. I wonder where all the money goes.
We don't realise how much power we have, and the politicians want to keep it that way, the more ignorant the more easily dominated we will be.
