Two men from Edmonton have been accused of involvement in the gang rape of a teenager with learning difficulties whose body was then drenched in caustic soda, a court heard this week.

Wood Green Crown Court heard how the 16-year-old girl, who has a mental age of just eight, was taken to a deserted house in Tottenham and gang raped by up to 10 men who then ran off laughing.

They had allegedly covered her from “head to toe” in caustic soda used for stripping paint, which made her skin fall off, leaving her permanently disfigured and unable to talk for more than a month afterwards.

Bradley Daley-Smith, 21, of Edmonton, is accused of rape and grievous bodily harm, along with Hector Muaimba, 20, of Walthamstow, Bruno Abrantes, 24, Jason Brew, 18, and Rogel McMorris, also 18, all from Tottenham.

Miguel Almedia, 22, of Edmonton and Ismail Opeyemi, 20, of no fixed address, are accused of rape. They all deny the charges.

Rosina Cottage, prosecuting, told the court that the victim had no idea what was going to happen when she was lured to the Tottenham address on the evening of January 9.

She added: “She was shy and insecure with learning difficulties and thought she would be liked by these boys if she had sex with them.

“She had no idea what was in store for her.

“They raped her vaginally and orally and when they had had enough of her, and she dared to say no, her body was burned from head to toe with caustic soda.”

The jury saw video footage of the victim’s interview with police from her hospital bed two months after the alleged attack.

She said that after the men had raped her they turned on the light and took a picture of her naked.

She added: “They were all laughing. I was just crouched down crying and screaming.

“I didn’t know what (was) poured but (it was) some kind of acid and it was burning.”

However the girl, who is giving evidence by video link in 20 minute sessions, admitted lying to police about a previous sexual assault in a car.

The court also heard how on the evening of the rape, she said she had consensual sex with three men, although it is not clear who they were as she did not known their names.

The case continues.
