Vandals caused more than £1,000 worth of damage to a community centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Five windows at the Cornucopia Community Centre, in Spikes Bridge Road, Southall, were smashed when thugs threw bricks and stones at the building.

Staff locked the centre, which is used among other things to co-ordinate the Duke of Edinurgh Award project in the borough, at around 10pm on Tuesday.

However, when the alarm to the centre was triggered in the early hours of Wednesday morning the security company sent out a patrol, which discovered the damage at around 2am.

Anyone with information can contact Ealing Police on 0208 810 1212, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
