Snow piles on the problems at Terminal 5

Snow has added to the travel misery at Heathrow's Terminal 5, following the disruption caused by the baggage-handling problems.

More than 60 flights have been cancelled and more delays were possible due to the unseasonal snowfall experienced across the country.

British Airways said it had cancelled 31 flights to the terminal and 31 flights from it.

Two runways were briefly closed as they needed to be de-iced following the snow in London, while the frequency of runway traffic had to be reduced.

The snow storm has added to the disruption caused by the baggage handling problem, which saw handlers working through the night sorting bags by hand after software problems with the automatic system.
