HARROW: MP's post office stance criticised
A campaigner has slammed a Harrow MP after he voted with the Government on Post Office closures.
Evelyn Gottlieb, of Whitmore Road, who has been campaigning to save the Post Office in Harrow-on-the-Hill, accused Gareth Thomas, MP for Harrow West, of letting residents down.
She said: "I'm not a public creature but he's ignoring public views. He's completely ignoring us.
"I feel people should know the truth, people should know that he didn't sign up in Parliament against the closure."
Ms Gottlieb said she started collecting signatures for the campaign to save the branch about a week ago.
She said: "I don't understand why they want to close something that serves the community. Hundreds of boys use that Post Office.
"They can get their stationary there as well as the services of a post office. If they had to go somewhere else that would eat in to lesson time and they can't go into town anyway."
Anyone wishing to sign the petition can find a copy in the Post Office, in High Street, Harrow-on-the-Hill.
