Smokers can have their lungs tested at a Potters Bar leisure centre next month as part of a nationwide stop smoking campaign.
The Furzefield Centre, in Mutton Lane, is setting up free ‘peak flow’ tests, which measure how fast air can be blown out of the lungs.
The measurement provides an indication of the quality of a person’s lung function.
Fitness staff at the centre will also be handing out information leaflets about the NHS Stoptober campaign, encouraging people to give up smoking throughout October.
Research reportedly shows those who give up for 28 days are five times more likely to stop for good.
