Firefighters in the borough had a busy night as students carried high jinks post fresher’s week.
Staff at Kingston were called to Hampton Road on the Cambridge Road estate where a young man had got himself caught on a fence between two railings.
According to firefighters at the scene the boy, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, was unharmed, aside from a couple of bruises, but “quite drunk”.
On their way back to the station they came across a young woman collapsed on London Road, opposite Kwik-fit, in Kingston.
The girl, also said to be in her early 20s, was stabilised by firefighters before ambulance staff arrived to take her to Kingston Hospital.
A fire-fighter who attended both incidents said: “It was a really busy night last night. In both cases it looks like a case of new students having a bit too much to drink.
“They were both fine in the end. We calmed the young woman down, got her settled and she was fully compus-mentus by the time ambulance staff got there.
