An eagle-eyed nature lover took this impressive mirror image of a heron as it sought shade in a Hendon park.

John Goldman was walking his dog in Dollis Brook, Brookside Walk, on Sunday morning when he stopped to snap the bird in the picturesque setting.

The semi-retired relationship counsellor said: “Luckily I had my camera with me, which I take out quite often. We see a lot of wildlife in this area and it is nice to share it.

“I’ve seen this heron before, he’s a regular visitor. They’re such impressive birds – imperial almost. They have beautiful lines and it is a part of nature that somehow survives in an urban environment."
