Former Barnet FC caretaker manager Giuliano Grazioli visited his old school today to officially unveil the new playing fields.
After three years of fund raising, the fields at Finchley Catholic High School have undergone a complete refurbishment, including levelling and draining the pitches and expanding the sports pavilion.
The renovated pavilion has been renamed The Kevin J Hoare Sports Pavilion after the school’s former headmaster, whose huge contributions towards the project have been invaluable.
The high school is hosting a Sixes Tournament in collaboration with AC Finchley Football Club this weekend.
Current head Seamus McKenna said: “The official opening of the Kevin J Hoare Sports Pavilion is an event that we have long been anticipating.
"I would like to thank all those who have been associated with the project and who have brought it to fruition.
“It is heartening to think that generations of pupils at the school and members of our community partners will benefit from these facilities for years to come.”
This weekend's football involves more than 800 players from 92 local football teams, ranging from under-8s to under-15s.
