To celebrate the 200th birthday of Charles Dickens a London tour guide has added a new tour to his repertoire.
Paul Baker, who has been a French teacher for 30 years, is offering a guided tour called Dickens and Victorian Barnet during which he will describe the links between the author and the borough.
Mr Baker’s tour will include tales of Dickens’s drinking session in the Red Lion, Barnet, and of how he scandalously left his wife and took a mistress.
Mr Baker said: “I love doing local tours because it is history on my door step and Barnet has a huge amount of history.
“The connections to Dickens are just one of the topics of historical interest in the area.”
The tours, which will start outside High Barnet tube station, are taking place on February 15 at 11am, April 29 at 2.30 and June 16 at 2.30.
They do not need to be pre-booked and cost £7 per person.
