A bayonet was confiscated from a 21-year-old man in Lewisham last night (Aug 3), who was then arrested.
The weapon, which was well over a foot long, was found during a routine stop-and-search of a car in Sydenham.
The suspect was also found in possession of cannabis by Met Police officers.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were approached a vehicle in Normanton Street at approximately 12.35am and spoke to two male occupants.
"A search was made and officers recovered a quantity of Class B drugs and a bayonet.
"A 21-year-old man was arrested for possession of a Class B drug and possession of an offensive weapon.
"He remains in custody."
