REFURBISHMENT of four tennis courts at Queensmead Sports Centre, South Ruislip, is now complete at a cost of £10,000.

They are operated by social enterprise GLL on behalf of Hillingdon Council.

The revamped courts will be available to all members of the community, though neighbouring Queensmead School will have exclusive access during the day.

A new range of tennis activities have also been launched at the sports centre, including junior and adult lessons on Monday evenings and women’s-only Tennis Tuesdays, alongside general court hire.

Families will also be able to try out the new courts in a £1 per person Family Tennis initiative on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Tennis coach Charlotte Edwards said: “I can’t wait to start coaching there. I’m a big tennis fan, and playing and coaching on nice courts makes all the difference.

“With Wimbledon starting next week, I’m hoping lots of residents will be inspired to give the sport a go.”
