It’s often a movie location and now Greenwich is hosting its own film festival.

Greenwich Film Festival 2015: From Greenwich with Love will showcase a variety of pictures in various locations in the borough from June 19 to 21 as part of the Royal Greenwich Festivals.

There will be new films by emerging directors and other independent features set for release later in the year, including a preview of Sundance festival’s World Cinema Jury Prize winner Slow West, starring Michael Fassbender, at Greenwich Picturehouse on Friday, June 19.

A Lights, Camera, Action film tour from 2pm on Saturday, June 20, will take visitors around the Old Royal Naval College discussing the numerous films made there over the years including the likes of Les Miserables, Skyfall, Thor: Dark World, Sherlock Holmes and Pirates of the Caribbean.

The festival includes events for all of the family, including two free screenings of the family animation Fairy Tale: Story of the Seven Dwarves – one at The Greenwich Centre on Friday, June 19 and one on the Greenwich Big Screen on Sunday, June 21.

Blackheath’s Sally Hawkins and New Cross’ Rafe Spall star in the award winning independent film X +Y about a young maths prodigy, which gets a screening in the Sunday at Tudor Barn in Well Hall Pleasaunce, Eltham.
