Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was stabbed. 

Officer were called yesterday to Hall Lane, by the junction with the North Circular in Chingford, at 1.30pm to reports of an altercation including an attack on a 16-year-old boy. 

However when police arrived there was no sign of the teenager or any suspects. 

It later emerged the victim had been taken to hospital.

Police taped off a section of the pavement by the junction with Sinclair Road for several hours. 

A Met police spokesman, said: "Police believe that the victim was involved in an altercation with at least three other males.

"At some point during this confrontation the victim was stabbed.

"He was then taken from the scene to hospital in a black car driven by one of the group."

The 16-year-old arrived arrived at an east London hospital yesterday afternoon, where he was treated for a single stab wound. 

His injuries were thought to be serious, but are no longer life-threatening. 

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
