Tributes have been paid to a “amazing mommy, wife and friend” killed on her morning run.

Cards and flowers have been left at the roadside in Chigwell Rise, Chigwell, where the woman, named as Alex in the tributes, was fatally injured.

The woman, in her 40s and from Woodford Green, died after she was struck by a car which then collided with a tree shortly after 8am on Sunday (May 31).

Police have made an appeal for witnesses, and the 18-year-old man driving the blue Skoda was arrested in connection with the crash.

He has been bailed until September 5.

One tribute left at the scene and signed by ‘Sheenagh McNicholas, Kristine Pampellone and families’ says: “To our Dearest and Sweetest Alex.

“You are so beautiful inside and out – an amazing mommy, wife and friend.

“May you rest in peace – forever in our thoughts.”

Another, signed by ‘Jackie, Dave and family’ said: “I have never met anyone with such an enthusiasm for life as you.

“You touched so many people with your kindness.

“May God watch over your beautiful family always.”

A card also left at the scene says: “You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.

“We will miss that laugh of yours.”

Following the crash, a section of the road was closed for about five hours while forensic investigations were carried out.

People living in Chigwell Rise have said people often speed down the road as it leaves a residential section.

Jean Memon, 70, said: “It is crazy, you cannot cross the road anywhere.

“You get idiots who think it is a motorway when it widens up.

“I am frightened to post a letter in the letter box across the road.”

One member of the public who asked not to be named said: “Police should come round so they can stop it, so they can stop them - not just wait around the corner and fine them.

“I go to David Lloyd [leisure centre] and I am even afraid that some car might come off the road, might come off and hit me.”

Anyone with information or any witnesses should contact the police by phoning 101 or emailing collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
