A cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on a busy road in Walthamstow.

Police were called at 6pm yesterday (May 28) to a collision between a bus and a man on a unicycle in Hoe Street.

The 55-year-old unicyclist was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The bus, a 212 service, stopped at the scene and there have been no arrests.

The wreckage of the unicycle was left underneath the bus as police carried out initial investigations.

Roads closures were in place in Hoe Street and Church Hill where the collision occurred.

Theresa Harper of Mornington Road heard the crash as she was shopping.

“I heard an enormous bang and then a man screaming,” she said.

“He was badly hurt, as the police were moving him he screamed more.

“It was horrible. I have seen him using the unicycle up this street before it does seem really dangerous.”
