A paintball-enthusiast has insured two of his fingers for £100,000.

Ronnie Hollington, 34, owner of Mayhem Paintball in Patch Park, Abridge, has insured his right and left index fingers in a bid to ensure he can continue playing paintball for the rest of his life.

Mr Hollington, who played the sport as part of the England team at the age of 16, added what he describes as his ‘most essential body part’ to the family-run company’s £10,000 annual insurance policy last week.

The father-of-one, who was seven-years-old when his family opened the Mayhem paintballing business on their family farm, said: “I added my trigger fingers to the insurance policy because without them I could be knackered.

“The adrenalin rush when people are shooting back at you and paintballs are hitting the woodwork is amazing.

“It means everything to me, it is all I have known since I was 12-years-old.

“I couldn’t bare to lose my playing fingers so I have insured them.

“It doesn’t make my fingers safer but I would receive a pay out of £100,000 if I lost them.

“I have not told my wife I have insured them, I don’t know how she would feel.

“My fingers are insured for one year and I would prefer to keep them over the money but knowing they are insured makes me more comfortable.”
